Hi Guys.
Hope you're enjoying 2015 so far.
I've got a bit of a favour to ask of you. Do any of you know of anyone on deviantArt, or elsewhere, who is a photographer of the Los Angeles area? Just, like, a resident of the area who just takes consistent, intimate, urban, lovely photographs of the day to day life of Los Angeles and / or the surrounding cities and areas.
For a bit of context, I live in a damned dreary part of the world. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful area with mountains, valleys, beaches, forests and castle ruins etc... It's just the weather here on the Clwydian Range is dire. Rainy and windswept and not conductive to upbeat creativity.
Now Los Angeles, particularly, while never having actually visited the place (much to my chagrin) has always been a place that inspired me, creatively. You can see it in my work. That filtered golden light caused by the climate and the pollution. The urban desert by the sea. The juxtaposition of inspiration, aspiration, glamour and urban squaller. I love it.
It something that started as a young kid seeing it on film, highly filtered with shimmering head and hazy skies. And one very particular slide in one of those old slide projectors that you used to hold to your eyes and then up to the light. They were normally red with a spinning paper disk of films and you pressed the lever on the side to move to the next one. Do you remember them? My cousin had one as a kid and I was always fascinated by this one slide of Hollywood looking from the street up to the sign. I wanted to be there. I wished I was there.
In another life I may have moved there. But now, I have ties. My beautiful wife and our baby son due to be born in May. Our families. Maybe one day I will visit, camera in hand. Two weeks busman's holiday. But for the time being I'd love to indulge in other peoples views and experiences of the city and area. If any of you could help out I'd be very very grateful.
All the best
Carl

I'm ba-aaack...
Hello to the few.
I'm back. Back again. Guess who's back. Tell a friend. etc.
Sorry I've been away for a stint. Between the full time bloody big series I've just completed for a reputable and well paying publisher, being a full time dad, full time home maker (!) and so on, I've not had time to work on ANYTHING for myself. At all. So many ideas, zip time to do 'um. My paid work has been / still is under embargo so I've just lurked in the shadows watching dA like an pencil-fondling Quasimodo. So I've popped something on here today for any of you who still keep and eye out or even give half a crap.
Here's to adding more in the future going on
T-Shirts to be bought
Hello dA.
Have you ever wanted one of my pieces of work on a t-shirt? I can't imagine why anyone would, but if you do, you can find one here http://www.teefury.com/fantastic
The good people at TeeFury.com emailed last week and asked if they could use one of my pics on a t-shirt. I liked the idea and then they told me I'd get a bit of a kickback, which sealed the deal. It's milk money for my baby so pay up ya bastards.
Hope you like / buy.
Cheers
Carlos
Cintiq or Huion?
Could anyone help with a bit of tech advise?
I really need to buy a drawing tablet that I can draw directly onto the screen for work and with a baby on the way, there's no way I could justify shelling out over £1000 for one.
I'm currently eying up the Huion GT 220 and the Wacom Cintiq 13HD, which both come in at around £550.
If anyone has used both, which do you honestly think would be the better purchase out of the two?
Cheers!
Folio Update
Hello, you.
Just thought I'd pop a quick note on here to check out my work all over the internets. I've just updated my online (dA) portfolio for the first time in far too long. You can find it hither---> http://carlpearce.daportfolio.com/

Here are some: mikytrance.deviantart.com/, rebel86.deviantart.com/gallery…, cweeks.deviantart.com/ (lives in Monaco but some great LA street shots), and michaelaresphoto.deviantart.co…, just for starters. I hear you about living in a cold part of the world--I'm determined to live out my retirement someplace warm and sunny!
